The Colours of Malta Luxury Services Journey – week 7

This week we visited the Hilton, an all time favourite for us at Colours of Malta. A hotel that set stage for so many memories of great COM events over the last decade.

The Hotel spaces ooze Mediterranean tones, with its décor capturing blues and naturals and exquisite open sea and marina views.

Boasting 413 rooms, extensive meeting spaces, 4 pools and 3 restaurants, this hotel is always an ideal choice for any event.

The Hilton suites are set on the higher levels, with access to the gorgeous executive lounge. A spacious and trendy area as well as a great spot for relaxing and enjoying some down time.

However, for the ultimate Hilton Malta experience we recommend one selects the fabulous Presidential Suite, located on the 10th floor, were one can take in breath-taking views of the Mediterranean sea and Portomaso yacht marina from one of the 11 balconies. This opulent 290 sq. m./3121 sq. ft. suite has been specifically designed to a supreme level, featuring a welcome hall which leads onto various rooms including a private bedroom with a king-sized Hilton Serenity bed and a separate walk-in wardrobe with a luxurious bathroom, as well as a guest bathroom, gym, living/sitting room, dining and meeting room with dedicated work space. There is also  a fully equipped kitchen and a second bedroom with 2 Queen beds and private en-suite bathroom. Truly WOW and luxurious.

We can’t wait to host our next groups at the Hilton Malta.

Film about Great Siege shot in Malta now released

A docudrama film by the name “God’s Soldiers” was the first major production to shoot and complete in Malta after the first wave of Covid-19.  With an all-Maltese cast the production was shot in Turkey, England, Austria and Malta and was released in Austria in late 2020, according to IMDB. Most scenes were filmed in Malta, with an estimated investment of €322,000 here. The film received €80,000 in financial assistance from the Malta Film Fund.

IMDB defines the storyline as: “In the mid-16th Century, a long running conflict between two of the most powerful world religions is building up to a climactic battle in the Mediterranean for the very soul of Europe. Facing each other are two highly trained forces. The Knights of the Order of St. John, a small but formidable Christian military Order. And the Muslim Janissaries, the fearsome crack troops of the Sultan. The historic events are told through the eyes of a young Ottoman conscript and his future arch-rival, a novice Christian knight. From an early age, both are trained to fight in the name of God, and Allah.”

FlyDubai to commence operations in Malta

Finally some good news regarding airline connections, as we receive the news that Malta is to regain an air link to Dubai from May, when FlyDubai will begin operating four flights a week between the two. This will be the first time that the airline has operated flights to Malta.

FlyDubai will start flying to Malta International Airport from May 12, with two of the weekly flights linking Malta International Airport to Dubai International Airport directly and two others including a stop at Catania International Airport.

Malta lost nearly half its air routes last year as part of a series of COVID-19 related cutback measures  and in doing so, lost all flights to Dubai following Emirates’ decision to pull out of Malta altogether.

Return fares will start from €500 for economy class seats or €2,000 for business class seats. A full schedule of the Dubai-Malta flights is available on the Flydubai website.

Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said the airline’s decision to grow its network of destinations reflected its expectation that passengers would gradually return to the skies as COVID-19 restrictions on air travel eased.

The Colours of Malta Luxury Services Journey – Week 5

This week we enjoyed the beautiful gardens at Palazzo Parisio whilst we chatted with Kristina about the past, the present and the future of this unique palace and events.

Palazzo Parisio, formerly known as Scicluna Palace, Palazzo Scicluna, and officially Palazzo Parisio and Gardens, is a 18th-century palace in the centre of the island.

Justifiably described as “a miniature Versailles”, this luxurious palace with its beautiful gardens and gold guilted ballroom has set stage for many of our most memorable events.

Palazzo Parisio makes a unique venue for corporate hospitality at the highest level.  In the evenings and at weekends the entire palace, together with its glorious and extensive gardens, becomes available on an exclusive basis for all sorts of entertaining and business events – receptions, conferences, presentations, concerts, summer garden parties, charity balls and glittering gala dinners.

This one of a kind property is ultimately where history meets luxury, a dream backdrop for your next exclusive event!

The Colours of Malta Luxury Services Journey – Week 4

This week we revisited The Phoenicia, a hotel located in a superb spot, just outside the vibrant capital of Valletta on the edge of the city’s 16th century bastions and surrounded by gorgeous landscaped gardens. Both a landmark and a luxury retreat, this hotel is proud to be celebrated as Malta’s most iconic hotel. After an extensive refurbishment over the last few years, the latest addition to the hotel is now ready!

Introducing the Deep Nature Spa, an environment of sophistication and light.

We love the use of materials like walnut timber, marble and Maltese stone that give this spa a modern yet natural environment making it a genuine Maltese retreat. The historical wall that runs through the spa forms the spine of the area through which the old and new sit beautifully together.

This spa boasts an indoor pool, a fitness area with state-of-the-art equipment, a relaxation area featuring a salt room, sauna, steam room and multi-jet showers along with 5 treatment rooms were you can treat yourself to a tailor-made massage or expert facial treatment.

This latest addition is a top luxury service that should not be missed when visiting this fantastic hotel.

Bocelli Will Welcome The New Year With Spectacular Performance On Maltese TV

This New Year’s Eve is going to be special for many reasons, one of which is the fact that Andrea Bocelli will feature on TVM for a small concert shot right here in Malta.

The world-renowned tenor will perform a 50-minute production along with an ensemble, singing eight songs across two iconic locations across the island – Fort St Elmo and St John’s Co-Cathedral.

The decision to perform eight songs is in tribute to the eight-point cross of the Knights of St John.

Shots of Malta’s beauty and landscapes will accompany Boccelli as he performs songs inspired by his latest album, Believe.

The announcement provides clarity as to why Bocelli visited the island last month, where he spent time filming the production and bonding with his fellow tenor, Joseph Calleja.

“This small island is a truly special place, like the heart of the Mediterranean,” he told TVM.

The 50-minute concert will premiere on TVM at 9pm this Thursday. The production will then be broadcasted to other stations around the world and online, including Andrea Bocelli’s own YouTube channel which has over 4.3 million subscribers.

Although we might not be able to celebrate the way we would like this year, having Bocelli perform from Malta on our TV set will undoubtedly make the evening special.

And if you aren’t into classical music, with electronic music being more your scene, you might want to tune in to Trackage Scheme x Esplora’s three-hour Planetarium stream on NYE.
