Conference venues in Malta

Malta has four main conference venues, and a number of hotels have conference facilities of their own. Capacities depend on the set-up, staging depth and whether you need round tables or theatre rows.

4 main conference venues

La Valette Hall · the long vaulted ward of the Sacra Infermeria, used for plenary, banqueting and exhibition
To 800
Five-star hotel ballrooms · pillarless rooms in St Julian's, St George's Bay and Sliema, with breakouts on the same floor
To 1,000+
Boardrooms and private palazzos · executive meetings, advisory boards and small strategy sessions

Staging and technical production

Kit does not have to be freighted in. Malta has established production suppliers holding LED, staging, rigging and audio inventory on the island, and a long-running film industry that has kept crew standards high.

Hotels for conference groups

Splitting delegates across hotels loses the informal conversations and doubles the shuttle operation. The InterContinental and voco Malta are joined by a bridge and sold as one hotel, so a group of up to 649 rooms can stay together. Above that, two hotels close together work well, with one as the conference hub.

Gala dinners and evening events

Buildings of national importance in Malta can be contracted for exclusive use, and every outdoor event carries a contracted indoor alternative with its own floor plan and agreed pricing.

Conferences in Malta: common questions

What is the largest conference Malta can host?

Republic Hall at the Mediterranean Conference Centre seats around 1,400, hotel ballrooms reach 1,000 and above, and the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre takes several thousand in a custom build. In practice the binding constraint is accommodation rather than meeting space, so the first question Colours of Malta answers is how many rooms you need on your dates.

Can we keep the whole group in one hotel?

Yes, for groups of up to 649 rooms. The InterContinental and voco Malta are joined by a bridge and sold as one hotel. Above that, Colours of Malta splits the group between two hotels, with one as the conference hub and the second within walking distance or a short dedicated shuttle.

Is AV and production available locally, or does kit have to be shipped in?

Locally available. Malta has established production suppliers holding LED, staging, rigging and audio inventory on the island, and a long-running film industry that has kept crew standards high. Colours of Malta has specified and delivered a 30-metre LED wall and a ten-metre built stage for a 350-seat plenary without freighting equipment in.

How quickly can a conference be delivered?

Colours of Malta has delivered a conference in ten weeks. A 381-delegate summit was contracted at the end of January and held in the first week of April, with four evening events in historic venues. Twelve months is more comfortable for large room blocks and first-choice venues, particularly for the April–June and September–November windows.

How much does a conference in Malta cost?

Colours of Malta does not publish prices, because the cost depends on the dates, the number of delegates, the hotel, the meeting space and the production. Send those to incentives@com.com.mt. A senior planner replies the same day, usually with available room blocks, a meeting-space option and an outline production specification.

How do you handle dietary and accessibility requirements?

On a recent summit Colours of Malta ran five dietary streams (vegan, kosher, halal, garlic-free, and a combined gluten, dairy, sugar and egg-free line), signed at every dish across four days, with requirements re-issued to each venue as they changed through the final week. Accessibility is planned in advance across venues, transfers and seating.

What happens if an outdoor evening is rained off?

Every outdoor event Colours of Malta contracts carries an indoor alternative with its own floor plan and pre-agreed pricing, held until the day. You approve both at contracting stage, so a weather call is an operational switch rather than a negotiation on the afternoon.

Do you work with association congresses as well as corporate conferences?

Yes. Colours of Malta works with associations, congresses, corporate conferences, sales kick-offs, product launches, advisory boards and executive meetings, from eight delegates in a private boardroom to well over a thousand in plenary. For association congresses, registration, abstract logistics and exhibition management are scoped as separate items.

How do we contract with you?

Directly with Colours of Malta in Sliema. Quotes are in euro with Maltese VAT shown separately, and public liability certificates are issued with the proposal.

Send us your delegate numbers, dates and agenda.

A senior planner will reply the same day, usually with available room blocks, a meeting-space option and an outline production specification.
