Palazzo Parisio
Palazzo Parisio is a historic palace in the centre of Naxxar, facing the baroque parish church of Our Lady in Victory Square. It is often described as a miniature Versailles. The palace is the home of the Scicluna family. Over its history it has been the residence of a Grand Master of the Knights of St John, of Sicilian and Maltese nobility, and for a time of the local Jesuit community.
Behind its plain façade, the palace was extended and decorated over the centuries. It has been restored to the designs of the first Marquis Scicluna, a philanthropist who made it his family’s country home in the Victorian era.
The interiors have frescoes, marble, mirrored walls, trompe-l’oeil, paintings and gilding.
In the evenings and at weekends the whole palace and its gardens can be booked exclusively for receptions, conferences, presentations, concerts, summer garden parties, charity balls and gala dinners.
The two walled gardens are laid out in a formal baroque style with Mediterranean planting. They are used for large dinners, receptions and open-air concerts. The gardens seat up to 250 for dinner and take 600 standing. The ballroom seats 120 for dinner and 150 theatre style.
